The UI/UX Graphic Designer is responsible for gathering requirements and definitions, for designing new applications and altering existing applications, for developing and maintaining dynamic user interfaces for the multiple SimplePin web and native mobile applications, for driving the evolution of corporate front-end standards, and for branding guidelines. More specifically, the UI/UX Graphic Designer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Duties, responsibilities and tasks
- Create holistic design solutions that address all business, brand, and user requirements
- Evolve and enhance the User Interface of the core SimplePin application and Company website
- Participate in the analysis, elaboration, and estimation of customer requirements and specifications
- Analyze business requirements and provide the feedback to stakeholders.
- Track time and deliver time-sheets on weekly basis
- Design new production-quality features and functionalities that meet customer requirements
- Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and develop the rationale for and the specifics of a user-centered design process
- Work closely with the business team to develop user scenarios, storyboards, and high-level requirements
- Work with web developers and engineers to deliver final products
- Build high-quality mock-ups and design different prototypes
- Conduct usability testing and user research
- Conduct competitor and customer analysis
- Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, technical constraints/opportunities and usability findings
- Design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flows for on-device software applications for a variety of screen sizes and interaction models
- Create process flows, wireframes, and visual design mock-ups as needed to effectively conceptualize user flows and communicate detailed interaction behaviors
- Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications
- Present design work to the user production team, development team, and executives for review and feedback
- Work with other team members on release planning and deployment activities
- Innovate and improve product design, creative processes, and tools by advocating designs that promote efficiency, reliability, and reusability
- Provide creative solutions related to the User Interface and the User Experience
- Ensure all personal deliverables are completed with highest level of quality within the assigned deadlines
- Ensure that the goals and the objectives are accomplished within defined timeframes and allocated budgets
- Assist with content development for corporate website and marketing campaigns
Skills, competencies and qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in user experience design or industry experience (corporate, software, web or agency)
- B.A./B.Sc./B.Eng. degree in graphic design, design communication, human-computer interaction or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A fundamental understanding of designing for different technologies, platforms and browsers
- Fluency in the principles of user-centered design methods, information architecture, usability, and interface and interaction design
- Ability to present cohesive design approaches to a non-design audience (including business, product and technology teams)
- Ability to create information architecture diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and screen flows
- A firm grasp of a range of UX tools, processes, and outcomes
- Ability to practice continuous improvement and promote knowledge sharing
- Capable of managing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines
- Strategic creative thinking with the ability to develop and implement actionable plans
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and writing skills
- Multi-tasking capabilities with the ability to adjust to a paced environment
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, with general guidance from technical management
Technical skills
- In-depth knowledge of graphic design software such as
- Sketch
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Interaction Design - Adobe after effects or principle, Axure, Invision, Marvel or any other software used for making prototypes
- Experience with video-editing software is a plus
- Experience in HTML5 technologies, Angular, Bootstrap, and/or CSS
- Experience in design for responsive cross-browser/cross-platform UIs for web applications
- Knowledge of Atlassian products, including JIRA and Confluence
- Drupal CMS experience is a plus
- Experience with financial math is a plus
